If I have a +/-15 volt dc power supply requirement for an instrument, how can I supply that instrument the required power with batteries? Any ideas for suppliers you can order small quantities from the internet would be helpful as well.

Thanks!

You need more data.
I suggest that you use four 9V batteries and a 7815 positive regulator and a 7915 negative regulator. The batteries must be big enough to provide the current.

10 alkaline cells for each polarity also works.

How would the wiring work for the two battery packs? The input wiring is +15v, -15v, and common.

Thanks.

the zero/common rail comes off between the 2 packs and from that pretty obvious when the negative and positive rails come from
