I have an IDC connector that mates with pins on a 2mm pitch.

I need about 20cm of cable for it (just 8 conductors).

Does anyone have a spare bit of this cable? I can buy 5 metres of 50 core cable, but that seems a mite excessive.

The important detail is that the conductor spacing is 1 mm *not* 0.05 inch.

I'm in Australia.

Have you considered an ULTRA-ATA cable reclaimed out of a computer, just skipping every other lead? Cheap and you might even have it laying around... I know it's not the perfect solution but you should be able to get a usable cable out of it...

Excellent! I found what I thought was the right thing on ebay, but it turned out to be a flex pcb style "cable".

The Ulatra-ata cables have a 1.27mm pitch, I need 1mm pitch. That ebay auction you pointed to seems to be the right thing.
