Hi,

I have some scrap motors, and want to use it as a wind generator to charge a 12V battery bank. It's a permanent magnet 3 phase AC motor.

In it's application it is driven by sinusoidal PWM with a 3 phase 12V inverter, and is rated for a current of about 100A.

It has the inverter mounted on the motor, and I wanted to use it as a 3 phase rectifier using the body diodes of the fets.

I don't know a great deal about motors, but other such projects I've seen, people are using all sorts of different motors.

Without trying it out with blades attached, how can I estimate how much power output I'll be able to get from it?

I've read that voltage generated is proportional to rpm, w, so V = kw. Can I say that the output power will be V^2 / R, where R is the resistance of a motor winding?

I'm a bit lost with motors...

There are different types of 3ph P.M. motors used as generators, a 3 phase bridge would be better.
Is this a ECM motor off a furnace or HVAC etc?
