Would like to know if there are bayonet 6.3 VAC incadescent lamps that produce
a candle flickering effect (no external circuitry required). Advice ?

Thanks,
Marcel

The only ones I've seen - and I have two here - are neons. Clearly neons aren't
going to strike off 6v3AC without external circuitry.

The mains-voltage incandescent ones use some kind of skinny filament
that bounces all over the place (is there a magnet in there too?).
Surprisingly they last a fair bit of time. I doubt you can make that
work at such a low voltage- the filament would be too stiff.

When I was at Disneyworld about 10 years ago, in the pirate's lair or
somehting like that , I had a good look at the 'flickering candle lights'.
Found out that they are controlled by a triac circuit that's controlled(
probably by a micro) to give a few 'steps' of varying energy.
It really wouldn't be that difficult and with cheap micros cost effective.
Heck a PIC16F84 or equiv. could handle 8 - 12 lamps.

just another way of looking at it.
