Maybe I am a naive person, but when I started reading about HDTV, I
really imagined that the regional divisions of yore were over. After
all, hasn't the Internet and other technologies such as cellular
taught us anything about interoperability?
Much to my dismay, I am learning about unpleasant acronyms: DVB-T,
SBTD, ATSC, DVB-T/H, and ISDB-T.
I refuse to believe that those TV systems are completely incompatible.
A Sony purchased in Japan works in Japan only? How complicated is for
Sony to take a bare bones TV and convert it for the US consumer? Ditto
for the European consumer?
Isn't the whole thing software, anyway?
TIA,
