So tested the current tonight, 1.3amps. Now, this monitor has a lot of functionality including recording to an SSD drive, so I don’t doubt it has the ability to utilize a high current load, but I highly doubt it will come close to 10amps. Thankfully I don’t use a lot of those features so I suspect I’ll be fine.

I’m going to check the voltages on the 19v converter tomorrow. The existing AC power supply outputs 19.2v, how much leeway do you think I have if this converter comes in over or under?

I would think a couple of volts either way. But try and adjust the converter to the correct voltage.
It may pay to test again under full load. ie: while recording to SDcard etc. It’s better to have too much than not enough!.

well, I soldered everything back together. I could pickup one of those clamps to measure through.

I did pickup two different DC converters, one is 19v @ 10amps, the other is 19v @ 15amps.

What would you say is the best way to push the limits of this DC Converter? I know a lot of people will use light bulbs. There are 24v 250watt bulbs, but then I'd need to add an additional buck boost converter in the mix as well. Just curious if you have any recommendations.

Question regarding fuses, with this dc-dc converter 12v in, 19v out, do I need to fuse the input and output?

Put your meter in series with the supply wiring. Also remember to change the probes to Amps connections.’

The kind of connector you have with parallel wiring is typical of using’in house’ components already bought and re-using them. Or a few are used to save pennies from altering input stages on the PCB. All said and done, the connections across two pins deliver the same signal regardless.

Good advice, Martin! Placing the meter in series is essential when measuring current, and switching to the Amps connection is crucial for accurate readings.
