I am making a talking dog collar for my dog and I'm going to use a baby monitor

I want to add a voice changer to the side I'll be speaking into or the side that the voice comes out of but I'm not sure if the voltage going to the speaker will fry the electronics or not. Normal mics don't send hardly any voltage do they? I would expect it to even be a 1 volt. So what I'm asking is how can I do this? I have a toy voice changer that takes a 9v battery but has a fairly large speaker.

Any tips? I don't know if the mic on the baby monitor is both the speaker and the mic or I would just buy a telephone voice changer and tape it to the baby monitor or something. If there is a voltage concern what can I do to overcome that?
