I carried out your suggestion of post # 19 with no results..

Just in case we crossed our posts did you see my post #20?

OK I'll do that but, with covers removed the toggle switch does the same?

By "toggle switch", do you mean the alarm relay contacts? The relay contacts themselves do the same thing, but without a schematic, we don't know how the wire terminals are wired to the relay contacts and tamper switch. On some devices, the connection between relay contacts and tamper switch is internal--on others, it's through exterior wires between terminals. Without some factory instruction or schematic, you'll have to test with a meter (or something) to determine how it's wired. If there's an obvious button for the tamper function, that might be an obvious alternative to putting on the cover while you're testing.

But first can you wire up the the attached icon as it seems to me it does not much with the schematic in post #8.

The schematic that Harald made in post # 8 is correct. What we don't know for sure is whether you must have the covers on (or make the receiver board think you have them on) before the circuit will complete to the buzzer. There is more than one way IR beam units can be wired against tampering and without an internal wiring schematic for the tamper terminals like you have for the relay contacts, we don't know how your tamper switches are wired. Check the IR transmitter too--If it's designed to be part of an alarm system, I would expect it to have a tamper switch as well, and would not transmit a beam if it thinks the cover is off.

The other thing is that I mentioned a couple of times the center red led labelled "LEVEL".
Now I have the bazer wires on 3 & 5 & when I swivel the body the leds now & then change on or of as if there is a mercury level switch!?, & same thing if I tap the body.

I'm not familiar with an IR Beam that needs to be leveled, but it sounds like this one does. So obviously, test it while it's level.
This may be one of the many differences between North American alarm wiring and UK/European wiring.

It may have a mercury switch inside, but there are other ways to detect a level condition, like a pendulum suspended through a hoop.

Thanx all,

I understand.

The last wiring I did on the Receiver was like this:- please enlarge the attached. When powered only the left red led marked "ALARM" & the green marked "GOOD" came ON. The middle "LEVEL" remained off but, when tapped sometimes one or the other leds go off & on.

With this wiring, the covers on, powered, powered, facing each other 2ft apart, turned upright & moved about to make sure beam hits the Receiver the Buzzer never comes sounds.

Yes the Transmitter has a Temper S/W.

By Toggle switch I meant the one that is moved when the cover is removed, perhaps the correct name is Tamper s/w ?

I would like to get it going but I lost faith & suspect it may be U/S.

With the connection shown in post #25 the buzzer can't become active. There is no connection of the buzzer to power. See my post #8.

I did that wiring hoping that the S/W would be powered internally & with the buzzer on it would sound when it was it bridged when the beam was interrupted.

I have tried all sorts of combinations of wiring with no success & in my post #10 I introduced a sixth cable as per diagram of post 8.

Could you please draw lines the correct way as per diagram on this scan below for me?.

I am sorry asking you to transfer the diagram wiring on to the actual item, you are probably not allowed to commit yourself.

As mentioned before I did wire the item as per diagram with out success.

I am very grateful for your patience to help me.

Sorry for wasting your valuable time but, It seems to be beyond me this & contacted eBay to return it as U/S. ...............nick
