so I was wondering if anyone can help me out
we got the infamous appstore for apple and playstore for google.... anyone know of a store like steam etc where you can browse and get full programs (Not that windows store, its just not right putting "apps" on windows)

so for example I want an Office alternative, I type into said program "office" and up comes all the alternatives... tried that in windows store and nothing decent came out, not even openoffice

this could help out find alternatives to programs that everyone pays for, off course they take some getting used to but usually offer the same amount of features

Yep. For eg search for:

Office alternatives os version (eg windows 10, Ubuntu 14.04 etc etc)

Or if you only want part of the suite, say a word processor. Look just for that software
eg: Word Processor Windows 10

If you want free, open source, or have any other requirement just add that to the search.

Seriously though Save yourself some time.

yeah might search around for what i want.....
I was using office as an example but lets look at cads there are a myriad of alternatives, this goes for writing programs, drawing program, calculators etc. want a program like steam that incorporates both paid versions and free versions with both user reviews and official reviews.
I am tired of looking through 50 different pages to find that the program is trial only, doesn't have a feature or there are no actual user reviiews, its all their office admin

Fre:ac - audio converter
InfraRecorder - lightweight disc burning - portable version available
