Supposedly more efficient.
I found this video this morning, it is over 1 hour long.
If you are impatient, go to 49 minutes for the meat of operation.

Do you bother to start new seedlings and plant them, or are you lettingGeorge said:Thanks Mike, I like Science Friday. (I'm not investing in artificial
leaves.) I've got ~15 acres of trees behind my house, from which I
gather wood each year (~10 cords). There's a bit of gas involved, and
a lot of sweat from me .. it's 'free' exercise as far as I'm
concerned. A lot more wood than that just decays on the ground. But
there's zero maintenance! And it's stored for free if I leave it for
next year.
Kewl! Thanks for this!George said:Hi Rich, There're enough trees that mostly it's just a matter of
cutting up what blew over the year before. I'll take down a few dead
ones if needed. (There's always dead Elms and lots of Ash have been
dying lately.) I've got an outdoor furnace and can burn all sorts of
'junk' wood..So all the soft-woods are 'fair-game' too. Someone
advised that I have a forestry person walk around with me and tell me
which trees to cut down, to let the other 'better' trees grow up.
