Hi All,
I recently purchased an '03 Nissan Xterra. I want to install an alarm with
a Pager and Remote starter. The two top choices right now seem to be the
Autopage RF850LCD and the Viper 791XV.
I previously had the Autopage RF750LCD installed in my Altima and haven't
had any problems with it although I wish the range could be better. It runs
on AM and advertises near ¼ mile range. The new 850LCD advertises ½ mile
range using FM which I imagine is less susceptible to interference. Am I
wrong? The new remote does seem nicer.
Then we have the Viper model. This model advertises a shorter range (about
the same as my 750 from Autopage ¼ mile.) Additionally, Viper has always
seemed to have a larger following which would lead me to believe it's a
better system.
Assuming the 'build quality' for both alarms is identical, Range is probably
the most important feature to me. Installation quality is also very
important and I trust both shops that I can choose from to do quality work.
I cant expect either of them to be impartial and I cannot find any dealers
who carry both.
What's your opinion, which would you choose or is there a better option I am
not considering?

Many Thanks,
