I would like to be able to control the lights with both the remote and the existing wall switch. I believe that I can achieve this by wiring the red wire from the switch to connection A, see attached diagram. Would back feeding the blue wire cause any damage to the receiver?

Back-feeding the receiver's blue output is unsafe. Connection A looks like the receiver's light output. It is designed to supply the light.
It is not designed to receive switched power. By the way, I think it will be better if you attach the diagram in a JPEG or PNG format in the body of the original question.
