Clearing caption memory on Sony television

Sorry if this is the wrong group to post this question.

I've got a 27" Sony with PIP (about six years old). Through the menu,
it allows the user the ability to enter a certain number of captions
to display television call letters for channels. I'd like to clear
these entries so I can enter new ones because I get "Caption memory
full" messages. No where, that I can see, in the manual does it say
how to clear this and I haven't been able to find the info on Sony's
website. I've tried entering all -'s and _'s but that doesn't work.
Thanks in advance for the help.

It took me awhile to figure it out on a little 13". I'm surprised the
manual doesn't mention it. Go to an entry you want to delete. Go to edit
mode, then hit RESET on the remote. That will fully erase that entry.

Oddly, my fancy XBR910 is smart enough to recognize all blanks to free
up memory.
