here is the circuit thanks to mr heckles the inputs i run to the high voltage photoflash capacitor charger outputs that go to the capacitor being charged
audio guru the orange wire i put there because i was out of red wire for the positive i havent measured the voltage output from the high voltage photo flash capoacitor charger to the capacitor yet as the capacitor charge indicater circuit is in between that all
hello mr heckles ive just biult my first coilgun really simple to and ive been testing it and i used the high voltage photo flash capacitor charger, which allso charges non photo flash capacitors and i get great results to ,
heres the latest picture, this time ive solderd the protection diodes in place and ran the input wires to the coil , i used 3x 1n5408 diodes and when i charged up the 200 volts 1200uf electro and dumped the charge into the coilgun it went faster, maybe the settings on the high voltage photo flash capacitor charger, i got in the right positions so i got a better charge

Why did you parallel three protection diodes?
The 1000 volt 1N5408 has a peak current rating of a whopping 200A!
I doubt that the flyback current exceeds 20A and is a very short duration so surely a single diode is fine. ;D
Please post the schematic again since it got lost in the forum.
audio guru those 1n5408 diodes in my dicksmiths catalouge says they are rated at 3 amps so i dont know where ya got the amps details on them from, as for the diodes well i got the idea of useing three of them from the circuit schematics for the high velocity electromagnetic launcher or ring shooter so i thouth id borrow that and use it for this coil gun gee it sure goes better now anyhow that circuit i posted agers ago to the topic chargeing of capacitor by bakr its in the high voltage stuff section as for the circuit i used to charge the capacitor with not includeing the modifications here it is
audio guru there we are 3.0 amps forward current ha ha ha ha as said and the wire size of the diode well my 10 watt resister has bigger legs than that. oh thats a good idea that used car parts hey well im looking for a v8 engine to put in me coilgun to drive it to the test zone lol ha ha ha ha
here is the circuit i use to power the disc shaped flyback transformer with for my high voltage photo flash cap charger that i use for powering my revised coil gun
the 555 timer and irf540 or 640 or 740 n channel ,mosfet and potentiometers are separate and not on the board so the pins you see are where the wires from the timer and mosfet and potentiometers run to . here is another flyback ill be useing in this latest cap charger for the coilgun now ive had to replace a section of the circuit board with pvc as it was broken
the white stuff you see on that flyback was to keep the loose pins in place through the pvc i cut and shaped to replace the broken off circuit board section,
