Comparator help

Hi, I am attempting to build a small circuit for automotive testing for an engine swap I am working on, and I need a little help.

I need a comparator and I was told I need a lm311n and I ordered a lm311p not realizing they may or may not be different.

Will using the lm311p be okay?

Welcome to the forums

you shouldn't find any difference between the 2 different suffix letters
it usually refers to a style of packaging ... plastic, ceramic, metal etc
