Hi Guys.

I have a report to write about a corded drill. This includes inside the drill, its components and how it functions. I can't seem to find the specific names of all the components within the drill.

Could anyone please point me in the right direction? The corded drill is AC 230 Volts, so its uses a single-phase induction motor right?

Thanks,
Ash

No induction motor will not have enough power (actually torque) at low speed, what other type have you looked at, with brushes and a commutator?

More stuff

Hi Mursal,

Thanks man, I admire your google/keyword skills. Haven't looked at one with brushes and a commutator, I studied motors a few years back, so I know those are DC right?.

The assembly diagrams on here are really useful.

Are they DC? Check. The universe awaits you...

"The motor used in corded drills is often a universal motor due to its high power."

"The universal motor is a type of electric motor that can operate on both AC and DC power"

Thanks guys! Now I know what I'm looking for. :]
