Hi all,
Just wanted to say a big thanks for the help with my new hobby. I've
salvaged a couple of dead monitors with the advice from this group.
Got a CTX VL700 monitor that the picture has been getting thinner in width
on. The picture is also showing distortion from the squish. Tried it on
another computer and verified it is the monitor. The front controls affect
the size however only to a certain extent. So I openned it up and adjusted
the horizontal size pot so that the picture was bigger than the screen with
the front controls set to maximum. This allowed me to back it off a bit and
adjust for the best picture.
There are a couple of electrolytic caps in the area that I suspect are
getting weak and causing the size decrease.
Is this assessment correct and will I damage the monitor with my
adjustments? I imagine this will drive the horizontal a bit more (or less)
with the increase in size.
