Dual opto/SPDIF input circuit ( for DIR170x )

Hello,

I'd like to use a DIR1701 or DIR1703 ( which one would you recommend ?
). It's connected to a I2S interface on a SoC and some GPIOs.

I'd like to have both opto and SPDIF output with only one chip, It would
be nice if it was 'autodetect' but I can also select which one is active
with one simple GPIO.

Also, It has to be with the best quality possible and SPDIF should be
electrically isolated with a transformer I suppose.

Can some one help me ?

Thanks,

If you want multiple inputs and outputs, you better have a look at Cirrus
CS8416 with the additional 196kHz capability. Opto receiver TORX173 and you
should use the ready made transformers for RCA(S/PDIF) or XLR(AES/EBU)
connection.
There is not a "best" quality in digital design, just a "sufficient" one. If
you do not tell us what you want to do with the data, we cannot advise more
specific.

Hello,

Thanks for you answer.

Well, only two. The CS9416 seems a little overkill with it's 8 inputs ;)
But I'll have a deeper look.

Opto receiver TORX173

Yes, I planned to use this. But it's 5v logic and input of the DIR170x
is 3.3v, So I guess I'll add a 3.3v buffer with 5V tolerant input
between the two.

connection.

Yes, I have some SC982-04 transformers that I also use with the SPDIF Out.

Well, I want to be able to read common streams coming from PC, DVD
players, minidisc, ... ( either PCM or AC3/DTS/...), ... whatever.
I don't plan to go up to 192kHz, I'm not sure it's very useful ?
