DVD player (no disc error)

Hello everyone,

I am currently working on a portable dvd player and bumped into a hurdle. While there is a dvd in the unit, once I power the unit on, it displays that there is no disc.
This seems like a sensor problem (photo-sensor) but I am not sure for I have not had that much successful experiences in optics and cd-players.

I tried three different dvd movies that worked on my home use dvd player. It still doesnt work.


Any idea on where i can get this laser detecter?

if it is a home dvd that was made it might not work in all dvd players...some dvd players usually the better ones wont play mp2.. also some dvd players have a format 1,2,3 you can look on back of dvd case and it will tell you what number it is and then the oweners manual for the dvd player will tell you what numbers it plays... he in us  most are 1 so most dvd players will play 1 or all 3..
