Electronic alarm

hi, i have decided to make an electronic alarm for my final GCSE project and want a keypad (for a code) i want to know if i can use a PIC to control what the code is? and if it is typed in wrong , the alarm goes off.. is this possible? or will i need a seperate more complex circuit?
