I was watching a film and one of the charaters remarked that it had twin turbines.
This got me thinking, how small could a Gas turbine/turbo fan be built and what would happend if one were straped to a bike?
Post your thoughts cus ive got a megger "batman" style bike design.

Someone on an electronics forum built a jet tubine from a turbo. He fueled it with diesel and started it with propane. He was asking for a PWM circuit to control its fuel pump. He said it didn't have a big flame coming out like I thought it would.
I think he used it on his go-kart.

I saw a small model airplane fly extremely fast with a tiny model jet turbine that costs a fortune. It even sounded deafening like a real big jet plane. ;D

What do you think would happen on your bike if you were pushed and pushed and pushed and pushed and pushed and pushed and pushed and pushed and pushed ...?
Could you fly? ;D

Hi Guys,

Don’t you just love that lawn mover? ;D I know I do! ;D

Some useful turbine sites:

This is what they do on New Zeeland: http://www.asciimation.co.nz/beer/
Here you can order turbines for your bike: http://www.swbturbines.com/model_turbines.htm
This is puls jet : http://www.aardvark.co.nz/pjet/

BTW I know at least two easier ways to keep my beers cool! 8)

Thanks Ante,
I liked the afterburner flame on the pulsejet and especially the huge flameout when it ran out of gas. ;D

What a way to waste fuel. Using its expansion when it leaves to cool beer!

Hi Audioguru,

It’s a spectacular sound and light show for sure! ;D

Yes, that’s what I meant “I know at least two easier ways to keep my beers cool!” 8)

I have a design for a bike and a design for a turbofan and last night i worked out how to run duel Turbines.
I wonder what the power would be if the system were put in a robin relient?
Anyway i posted this because i wondered how on earth could an EMS (Engine Managemant System) be built for this thing?

What do you want this EMS to do for you?

What does an EMS usually do? It would have to all the usual stuff and prevent "flameout"

OH on scrapheap challange (UK)  junkyard wars (USA)  a team built one with a turbo and another with a leaf blower!

This German guy is deeply involved with turbines and you could perhaps find some answers here: http://www.technologie-entwicklung.de/Gasturbines/gasturbines.html
Lots of interesting pics and videos here. ;D

WOW so a GT bike is very possible.
I wonder what the RMP and acceleration would be? ??? ??? ???

Hi Ante,
I randomly surfed the German guy's turbine site. He and his friend must be millionaire machinists, because they are playing with carbon-fiber turbine blades, ceramic bearings and titanium.
Can you imagine someone flying around wearing one of his "turbine belts"?
Some of his turbines were spinning at 220kRPM! ;D

Imagen running that through a gearbox on a bike?

Hi Audioguru,

Expensive toys but I suppose they buy these turbines as surplus or scrap. A small postage stamp on one of the blade ends will cause havoc and breakdown weighing plenty at these revs! Nice hobby though! 8)

AJB2K3; you have to reduce the RPMs with an extra pre-gearing or you will burn down the clutch! ;D

you would need to veri the fuel flow,
install a pre-gearbox,
All this theory, i wish i had my new shed to start build this.
BTW how do jet get ther turbofans to spin-up? i must me missing that bit.
I was gunna run 2 through a driveshaft. So far machincaly that two diffs and 2 gearboxes needed just to get an output.

You can blowstart it with compressed air or start it with an electric starter with high revs. 8)

i thought a startermotor on the drive shaft to spin up the turbines.
I have a lovely design and i now know its interly possible. I just need to get the money to get the turbins.(custom made aswell)

Why not use a turbo system from a smashed car like the other guys?

Hi Guys,

This is an eight turbine project that you got to see; the sound alone makes your skin curl doesn’t it? It’s 14mb.
