A mate of mine reverse polaritied his car dashcam recorder's car power supply, opened it up to find 1 exploded ic switcher, the diode measured oy 0.1v across the diode (not a schottky, i checked)
Replaced it all except for the electrolytic caps which survived, i found it interesting that they lived...
Anyway fired it up... dead, take a look at the photo you'll see a half watt resistor, i measured it.. 80k! I made it out to be a 0.24ohm 1/2watt i lifted it out and found parts of it on the pcb lol (looked great from above)
5.3v out all's good again lol - thought i'd share
