would the KEMO #M40 pre-amplifier module be ok to amplify a guitar output to line level so i can play my guitar thru a normal amplifier when I dont have access to a proper guitar amp.

here is the link for it:

and this is how i figured i should wire it, the guitar input being a 1/4" jack and the outputs being dual RCA's

Hi Ben,
The Kemo M040 preamp is designed for low level, low impedance microphones, not high level very high impedance guitar pickups.

Here is a simple guitar preamp without much gain (only 1.4) and it has a 3M ohm input impedance:

What did you mean by regular amplifier? A stereo? If that is the case use the phono input. I used mine to play my bass plenty of times.

A guitar pickup has an output level far higher than a magnetic phono cartridge.

A phono preamp for a magnetic cartridge boosts the bass frequencies because the bass is reduced when a record is cut. Then the phono preamp is easily overloaded at bass frequencies.

Maybe an overloaded phono preamp make lots of fuzz when fed from a guitar pickup.

Never had a problem with mine. Used both passive and active pickups. No problems. Try it.
