tank drive worked amazing i added a long shaft 12v motor instead of the one that came with the kit. i added a base so the wheel and gear dont fall off and it works.
i would love to. my camera failed and i already put my project into storage. this coming Sukkos Holiday i will take photo and share
All right sorry about asking to take a little video?
Something happened in between the timeline of it working and you putting it in storage and then retrieving it for that holiday I never heard of... maybe something did drop off that would be the easiest thing to check. :)

hi
it worked for 5 days 12 hours each day
then slowly slowly slipped off the treads afterall its hanging on its side instead of the traction of a tank wheel
i tied adding a base but then it kept scratching and stopping because its supposed to revolve feely
maybe i will try to stretch it tighter and see what happens

You are crafty stretching the belt tighter sounds like a great idea! I bet you that belt was exposed to just enough heat to expand that belt almost like a wet noodle over the 12 hour period, something to look out for.

thanks for all the thoughts and ideas
the previous base was thin sheet metal. the holes holding the motor and reel stretched and distorted so the tread was no longer taut
i made an new base of craft wood thin but strong and unbendable unbreakable
i remounted the reel and spokes with the correct distance pulling the tread tight
it works again and revolves ever so nicely
i guess the test will be next year during the Holiday, thats just about 1 year away
this time i used male female wire connectors so i dont need to destroy all the wiring for repairs
(the Holiday is called Sukkot - Feast of Tabernacles)

sounds interesting but how do i motorize that?
this idea that i am using was suggested on this forum
If you are asking about the tank track, using magnets, You would motorize it the same way you already did.

If you are wondering about the bicycle chain and sprocket, You will use the same motor and will need a hub and sprockets. You can find the hub on amazon for around $8.38. The sprockets you can go to any bike shop and ask them for any old used ones they may have laying around. While you are there you can pick up a chain breaker or ask them to break one for you and make it the size you need.

These photos show how I just drilled holes in the sprocket to attach the hub. The fourth photo is just to show the other motor (like your I believe) that is will work with.

The Hub Is 2.2 inches Outer Diameter. Just a bit bigger that the top of a regular soda can. The strocket it just a bit bigger than the diameter of the over dia of the soda can. 3"

If you don't want to use bike parts you can always find mini plastic chain and sprocket kits.

The sizes and links provided are just for a starting reference. They have smaller diameter hubs and sprockets, all you have to do is look into it.
