Heat guns are used primarily to make the heat shrink tubing smaller so that it gives you a good seal on an electrical connection. I also use mine for softening hard plastic tubing to get it to slide onto connectors more easily on projects which have air flow in them. Makes an excellent leak free connection. I am sure there are many other uses , too. Hopefully, others will post more for you.
