Hi, I have an intex magenetic pool light (12v). I’d like for it to turn on when power is first switched on (so I can control it with a hive plug).

The switch on the light stopped working so I’ve opened it up and had a look.

The current state of play is that if I touch the area in red with a piece of metal connnected to me the light switches on. If the piece of metal is insulated it doesn’t switch on.

I was hoping I’d be able to connect two places on the circuit board but I’m a bit out of my depth! Any advice would be greatly received…

Cheers,

Matt

Take another picture of the other side of the board and post it for us.

How old is the unit? Did it work before? What happened to alert you that it no longer worked with the switch.

Looking at the component named "U3" with the 14 pins on it, the tab closest to the U, just below and to the right slightly, looks like it may have cracked solder where that Integrated Circuit Pin is soldered to the board. Is it cracked?

Was the switch a normal mechanical switch, or a touch switch? You can "fool" a touch switch by connecting a capacitor in series with a mechanical switch across the "sense" terminals.
