Hi All,
I work in digital imaging and my bosses have tasked me to build an external switching lightsource for a system designed to grow and image plant roots. The plant is enclosed and uses the external lightsource as a day/night cycle. At stages throughout it's development snapshots are taken using lasers. At those specific times, the PC issues a trigger signal in order to activate a normally open shutter to block the external lightsource so that only the light emitted by the internal laser will be received. The working diagram I have is:

The motor is actually going to be a 24v rotary solenoid running at 12v to prevent overheating. It's rated at 160mA and has a nominal resistance of 151ohms.
The transistor is going to be a BDW42G (specs here)
Would anyone be able to help me with obtaining the values of the two resistors, and also a suitable diode?
Thanks in advance.
