Greetings all,

I would like to know if there is a simple way to detect radio waves transmitted from a re,mote controller (not with infrared) like the on used remote controlled cars, or cars central locking system.

But it better be an easy way something like placing it beside a radio or a TV or something

Thank you

Hi there
welcome to the forums :)

the frequencies are different to the ones a radio receiver or a TV uses

3 ways would be ....
1) frequency counter ... it will receive the signal and tell you the frequency
2) a wide band scanning receiver that is known to cover the freq's of the said remote transmitter unit
3) if you know the frequency, you could build a simple RF detector which would consist of an antenna tuned for that freq, a diode detector and a panel meter ( 0 - ~ 100mA range)

3 would be the cheapest IF YOU KNOW how to do electronics construction. It will give an indication that there is RF being transmitted but that's about all. But that mite be all you need to know ?
