Hi, I just bought a L298n a bipolar stepper motor I which is 15 pins IC. May I know how do I find its IC socket because I can't find this IC socket and just modify a 18 pin IC socket. It is not so good because it is easy short circuit if modify with this way. May I know has anyone has an idea or has seen this socket before? Can you please tell me? Thanks.  ;)

The "multiwatt15" package isn't really meant to go in a socket.

An IC socket has a max current rating of only a few milli-amps. This power driver has an output current that is way too high for a socket.

Can I solder L298n IC directly (without IC socket) into my PCB? Will this damage my L298n IC? Thanks.  :)

The pins on ICs are supposed to be soldered to a pcb. If you know how to solder properly then the IC will be fine.

the ic is meant to be soldered on a PCB and not mounted on using a socket. if u are dealing with high currents use a good heatsink with it. this ic is a stepper motor driver ic or in simple ways a power device.
