Led Bicycle Light

I got given a set of new bicycle lights for my birthday and whilst both work fine one doesn’t tell you it’s charging with the lit LED when on charge so I have no way of knowing if it’s charging.

is this possible to fix?

Hi Sickpuppy, is the 2nd light supposed to illuminate while charging? My guess is yes.
Although the LED is not lit, is it in fact charging? Are you sure?

Yes the LED is meant to light to indicate charging. I have no idea how to check if it is indeed charging, first time putting it on charge, but never ran low enough to run out of power so won’t know until a few days more use I suppose

Perhaps you can leave it on to discharge the battery, then see if it charges.
But without some sort of test tool, it'll be very difficult to know.

Is it possible to return the lights under warranty rather than try a repair which will void the warranty?.
Somebody might have an idea of checking whether charging but I can't think of any.

Unfortunately was bought off the internet a month or so prior to my birthday and is beyond the return period for Amazon…. as for warranty not sure what there is

So can confirm it’s not charging, it died last night riding home

That's a shame.
You can take it apart and see if anything obvious stands out, like a loose charge port or broken wire to the battery. They are fairly common faults and happen either by transport vibration or simply poor workmanship.

If you take it apart, show us some close clear photos of the board.

Thanks for the pictures. I can't see anything obvious either.
One thing you could do is compare the other light innards. Especially the battery. It looks very tight and possibly swollen.
But due to the shape of your lights, it could be normal.


Do you have access to a multimeter?
