I want to use a LED on 24v DC what formula do i use to calculate what
resistor i need...?


the LED is a 10mm..... 30mA..... 2 volts

R = (Vsupply - Vled) / Current
= (24 - 2) / 30
= 0.733 Kohm
= 733 ohm

Don't forget the power rating!!!

P=I²R
P=(.03*.03)*733
P=.6597W
Use a 1 watt resistor or it will burn up.

Be damned hard finding the exact resistor use 860 ohm and if it is
in a vehicle with 24v then 1K as the voltage gets up to about 29
volts.

No, in the case of 24 volt vehicle , where the voltage may go up to 29
volts,

regulate to 18 volts and redo calculation on 18volts.
