so i work in car audio/security but am only starting out. I have had a few amps in the past which were under 2KW and they lasted me years. I have had a couple amps over 2.5KW in the last year and i keep killing them. the first few were due to my poor install which i now realize but my latest one was a sub whos tincle lead broke in the sub zero weather due to me forgetting i had my volume up when i started my truck. 1/4 of a note and that was all she wrote. well now the sub works but my amp turns on with no output.

The last amp i tried to repair i set on fire, it worked at lower volume but not at full power. (this is why i carry 3 fire extinguishers in my truck). I would like to try and find someone local in MN that i can learn from and help me go through this amp to fix it. currently there are no places in this metro area that do anything with car amps and i want to learn how to fix circuitry as so much of the world we live in today operates around it. from TV's to computers to amps, ect.

i have not opened it yet and it could be as simple as a blown resistor or a poped cap OR it could be a whole row of mosfets. Does anyone know of a good book or perhaps someone who would be able to teach me a bit locally?

thanks.
