hey all, just a little background i am a first year Electrical Engineer Student dooing a recreational holiday project and am trying to learn some circuit work at the basic level to give myself a heads up.

as the title describes i am currently merging them, sounds pretty simple, but the ipod dock does not have a 3.5mm socket, it has an auxiliary port, 2 small speakers and a very small sub. the speakers are the X-530 logitechs, which is 5 speakers and a sub.

so far i have taken apart the ipod dock and cut the original speakers off and wired the left and right cables to red and white RCA which then connects to the X-530's

my problem the sound out put is very low even when everything is turned up to max,

im thinking it would be the ipod dock not having the power output to play it at the full, now i am rather mind blown on how to go about fixing this,

Welcome!

My first thoughts of the issue that you are having, you have two different signal levels... the speakers you cut out were one, and the RCA (red/white) are at another.

One thing I would try, is to get the audio signal before it hits any part of an amplifier... line level is what you are probably going for (RCA's use this level signal).

One quick question, is the aux port an in or an out?

You may or may not find this useful:

possibly take some pictures for us too :)

Good luck!
