Modeling square/cylindrical tanks

Hey,

what changes in the mathematical/ physical approach modeling of square and cilynder tanks for process control? I can only think of the cross section area where the process fluid passes through. Is there anything else?

The relevant parameters for a tank should be volume and degree of fill, regardless of the form.

Restrictions affecting flow rate into and out of the tank, or introducing turbulence of the flow?
Temperature gradients within the tank?
Distortion under pressure of contents?
Anti-slosh baffles?
Removable hatch/panel for intrnal access?
