Mux - DeMux

I will be xmitting several video sources across a vacant area about 600'
long. Is it possible to multiplex, say, 4 signals into 1 video transmitter,
then DeMux on the other end after it is received?

I have been looking around the net for such a product, but haven't found
anything.

What I want to do is cable 4 cameras to a central area, combine the signals
and transmit using only one xmitter or some other type of xmitter.

Thanks,

There are several ways you could do this. But probably, if your going into a
multiplexer/switcher at the other end, your best bet, and most cost
effective, would be to run a CAT5 cable across, and use a "twisted" sender
to transmit the video. You can send 4 video signals across 1 CAT5 cable. NVT
makes them, which I have used before, and are very reliable. With coaxial
cable, you would have to modulate a frequency (channel) and use a combiner
to send these signals, which would be costly in comparison, and then at the
other end, if you needed NTSC/PAL (Video) at the other end, you would have
to de-modulate the signals for a standard video output. Depending what your
budget is, you can use Fiber Optical multimode fiber, and send as many as
eight video signals across one Fiber. The "twisted" sender would be the most
economical road to use though.

There are several ways to do what you want. Another poster described
a twisted pair solution. You can also use fiber optics or wireless
transmission. There are several brands of video fiber optics modules
with multiplexing capability. IFS makes some of the best equipment:

You could also use a standard multiplexer at each end to encode the
signal, and a wireless Tx and Rx to send the signal using wireless
transmission. We've had good luck with the following products:

Obsolutely. You will need a multiplexer at each end of the same
manfacturer. The VCR out from one goes to the VCR in for the other.

I first ran across a refference to this with Sensormatic stuff, but I
imagine any duplex quad would work. As long as it processes individual
frames to the VCR and not a what you see is what you get output.
