I've always been on the software side and now find my self on the
hardware end. I could use some help figuring out which micro
controller to base my studying to complete the tasks at hand. My
assembler knowledge is poor, but I'm good at C++.

The micro controller needs to receive inputs from 8 sensors, operate 8
LEDs, play prerecorded sound over a speaker, display information on a
TFT display, and communicate over an 802.11b network. The ability to
store approximately 256k of sound and another 2MB of graphics (no
animation) is needed. Complete unit needs to fit in a box that is a
maximum of 7 inches by 7 inches by 1 inch. This project will need to
be run on a rechargeable NiCad battery not weighing over 2 pounds and
operating for at least 6 hours without recharging.

Am I looking for a micro controller or maybe something like an ARM7
processor? Would a processor use up too much battery power?

Thank you for your help.
