Hi all, I need some help with what is probably a simple fix. I received a composter second hand and when initiated all components work. Panel and touch screen work, motors work, fan work, the only part that does not work is the heating element. Attached are some images of the heating element and pcb connection, any help would be appreciated.

Do you know the Wattage of the heating element?
Do you have a multimeter?

Do you have a multimeter?
120v 500w.

The multimeter is giving the same reading on wires and terminals. I figured out earlier today that the heating element is fried. Now I am having quite a hard time finding a suitable replacement. The machine is rated for 500w but the only replacement I have on hand is a 1000W portable range top. Would it be a problem to use a 1000W element on a machine that is rated for 500W or will it just produce less heat?

Hello,

An 1000 watt heater will produce twice the heat of an 500 watt heater.
You can not exchange them.

No progress for me, I was told that these heating elements are common in cheap drip coffee brewers. So when I find one at the local thrift I will disassemble it to see. Mine is second hand, but if yours is first hand then I'm sure the supplier could ship you out a replacement part.

i've got a surprise refund for my composter so now i have budget to source a replacement heating element and thermal fuse. it will take 3-4 weeks for me to do that due to work load but i'll post back once i do that. current approach - find voltage 110v or 220v - mine is UK model so the latter is more likely, it is said to be 500w. i found a lead on generic U shaped which can be shaped into a circle. once i confirm the safety of it and source correct thermo fuse, i'd be able to advise on the most cost efficient way but taking my geo into account
