Hi,

Recently I dug out from store a mini game console (size 4" X 4") build by Epoch Co.Ltd, Japan, the model is a late 1980's type running on DC 3V using 2AA size battery. The LCD screen still works but the external display covered by a thin layer of oil like substance while looking at attached image 0168 console top view, there is a piece of white paper glued to the back of the LCD screen. Can I use dish detergent to clean off the oil surface ?

The glue on the white paper now is a bit loose and I noticed mold and fungus on the LCD screen (the mold is between the white paper and the screen and some of it is on the screen). Does anyone ever come across this sort of mold/fungus and is there any way I can clean it off ?

Any help to clean off those dirt is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I’m using LCD Screen Cleaning Kit, so do not spray directly on Display, spray on the cloth and use small amount of solution at a time. After the operation, make sure your display is dry before powering in back on. This will reduce the risk of moisture damaging the internal parts. Keep away from using tap water when making a cleaning solution. Water often damages the display. Popular cleaning kits for home-made solutions are isopropyl alcohol and white vinegar.

Hi DLD,

Following your advice, I use LCD Screen cleaning kit on cotton swab and wipe on the display
to clean off mold and fungi. After waited for abt 5 min to dry, power on and the LCD screen
much clearer now.

Thanks for the help.
