Hello,

I know there's a fault with this board as there no power so on inspection you go for the typical thing that is the capcitors on the board. None are bulge so eventually found a burnt area to the board.
BN44-00264c

As pictured below. (imgbb links Safe)

https://ibb.co/ccSiMa
https://ibb.co/npPKuv

Pink ones melted one side.
Blue ones the one that popped and melted all over the the legs of the big black one.
Black one doesn't appear to have damage apart from the legs.

What should I be replacing, I think all three that have been effected though I'm not sure all are damaged two parts are defo burnt out.

But what would you replace, and assume I'm an idiot on responses. :D

Where can I find what I can only assume are resistors cheap and posted in the UK, or where can I find them on the high street in north shropshire/Wrexham area.

Thanks in advance.

Blue 'bead' is a tantalum capacitor - well known for their spectacular failure modes.....

The fault is common and well commented - indeed there are usually videos on Youtube specific to these boards so have a Google for the many 'kits' that are sold with all the relevant parts in them.

Thanks for the response. That video doesn't appear to be specific to this area?

No working link or are you saying have a search dear lad?

actually I serious doubt that it is a tant
1) wrong shape too round tants are more oblong
and
2) the pcb markings don't indicate a polarity that all tants have

most likely a higher voltage disc ceramic

@Adam2050 .... is there any marking on the blue cap ? ... on the side that hasn't burnt

Hey,

Theres plenty of others same sized on the board and bigger.

Same size read on the side: in format:

R
101k
1KU

In the direction.

The one is melted on both sides.

there is another same sized with
R
122K
1KU

Thanks

which cap has bulged ?
I don't see a bulged cap in either of your pix

No caps have, that was my first thought. It just appears to blue 'thing' has burnt through both sides and taken the little pink one and burnt/smoked the big black 'thing' - newbie.

OK, sorry for the misleading post....

Got the schematic now and the following details are shown:

OK, CM806 is a 100pF 1kV ceramic capacitor.

RM831 is 0.4Ω 1 watt.

The control IC (on the heatsink) is ICE3BR1065JF

http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/312676/INFINEON/ICE3BR1065JF.html

which has potentially failed.

You need to replace those parts as your starting point.

Sorry for misreading the eBay ad.....

Most appreciated, now to find the best place to buy single bits and then whether a total newb can do them on the cheap. Got to start some where I guess.
