Hello,
I found one MI 7043 old analog multimeter. My friend used it in past and he gave it me. Voltage meter is ok, amp meter is ok(but I have to place new metal contacts inside becouse he damaged that with measuring high amp), but ohm meter does not work, when I short cables at x1 I get about 8ohm, when I measure 100ohm resistor, same, when I measure 470ohm resistor, same too, when I measure that at x10 I get zero, and at other scales same. Maybe he modified multimeter for measuring continuity instead of ohms, battery is ok, what I can do?

This may seem like a lame question but are you zeroing the meter first?

Trivia along the subject.
When I was a kid, I repaired the test and measurement equipment for the school electronics instructor.
The number one VOM damage I repaired, was some kid forgetting to select the proper meter function, and then
applying the test probes to the circuit. As in, leaving the meter on ohms, and then testing a couple of hundred volts
in a circuit, blowing the meter components.
If you haven't already, open it up and look for physical component damage.

Yeah, many of them were damaged on the "Current" functions too! Bent movement vanes was another glaring indication of abuse.
