When I plug in my 43" Projection TV (Philips 43PP8420) it goes into
standby mode and thats fine, but when I turn the TV on I dont get any
picture but a pulsing beep sound (which I think is some kind of a
warning signal) from the power supply area. This happened after a power
outage. I want to clear things out a bit, before I pay a visit to my
local Philips agent. Can anyone please tell me what has gone wrong? I
want to know the magnitude of the problem as I dont want to spend a
fortune on a repair....any help would be greatly appriciated.

Something in the power supply has likely failed, definitly a hardware
problem, just get a tech to look at it, there's not much else you can do.
Even if you look inside, the chances of something being visibly wrong are
slim.

Probably something shorted out, like high voltage or horizontal
output transistor. Power supply is protecting itself - trying
to start, shutting down, trying to start, shutting down, etc.
Nothing the average user can do but call a repairman.
