Hi,

I plan building a two wheel drive electric longboard.

It will use two 24V 250W DC motors to drive the two back wheels. I had a few questions in regards to driving these motors. I can use a Sabertooth 2x25 Motor Controller to control each motor independently. However, as this is a two wheel drive system and not a differential drive, the Sabertooth 2x25 may be a huge overkill.

Would you guys recommend using a 24V 500W DC motor controller and connect the two DC motors in parallel to produce an overall 500W power output?

What do you guy's have in mind?

Interesting.

Unfortunately I do not have any helpful insight for your project. I did come here to say I think this is a really awesome idea, and it would be awesome if you provided photos or a video of the completed project on this forum when you finish it.

best of luck.

Well no 2 motors are exactly the same, so even applying the exact same voltage/current/frequency to 2 of them you may not neccesarily get the same speed out of both of them (this means slowly turning one way or another when youre trying to go straight)

Either way you should have enough power to move yourself, at 500W (either dual 250's or the one 500) youre looking at about 0.6 horsepower, more than enough to move you, I cannot attest to speed or how well that will move you but it will move you.
