power on the usb frm pc!!!

any proff?

i am planing to get a power from the usb hub of the pc!

is it posible?

or what voltages could i get?

any suggestions pls!

Hello JayKool_56,

All I know about the USB ports of PCs is that they only deliver 5V  :-[ that's not very high to make a PSU !

And for the current, i don't know exactly but i think it might be 100mA.

May this could help ...

Yes you are right, 5 volts is nominal, if more than 100mA is to be drawn from the USB the device should be powered from an auxilary supply but some USB,s will deliver up to 500mA. Don't know if the USB has any type of currrent limiter so one should be careful.

Go into your systems settings of your control panel
then click where it says usb ports and you will see the
current supplied for each.  I thing it was between 450 and 500MA

Yes that's right ! I've just looked at my config and it says :
"Maximum current available : 500mA"
