is there any methematic link between each of the values in the E24 range
of prefered values? i worked out the difference between each value and
saw a small amount of logic in the link,

Yes,
take one decade and divide it by 24 on the log scale.
Each value is a constant factor from the next. Yes, the
rounding mucks the number a bit up.
