I wonder if each of those changes a different effect?  Does your amp have built in effects?  You could try just grounding the cables individually and see what happens.

I would also recommend going to ultimate-guitar.com into the forums.  There is a guitar building and customization forum and a lot of people there are very helpful.  Some of the first pedal builds I ever built I had some really helpful people there, and ive seen several footswitch threads there too....

Not that people here arnt knowledgable, cause ive only been registered here for a couple days, but thats pretty much what that entire forum is dedicated too

Yeah my amp has built in effects. It is a modelling amp so its got tons of um.. but i dont really care for controlling those. The actual footswitch that you can buy for it(the Sanpera I or Sanpera II footswitch) has 4 buttons that control different things and an expression pedal that can control volume or wah. I dont know much about this stuff. So how do i figure out which wire is ground? And then test each other wire? I know i'm a complete newb at this stuff.....and i have looked at ultimate-guitar's forums a bit and got some idea of how it might work but most of the pedals there use 1/4 in jacks not din midi connections

basically that would be the easiest way to find out.  You could also prob get a multimeter and test for the ground or the others which will have some current going through them.  There is really know difference between that plug you have and a 1/4 jack.  the jack basically has two wires and two connections on each end (although they can have more), while yours has 8.  Possibly if it usually has 4 switches on the pedal, it might just be 4 hot wires with four grounds.

Well, this cable is not the cable for the actual footswitch. I'ts just one i picked up at an electronics store. So i think that the coper wires are ground because they are unshielded and if your touch the grey wire to them the amp shuts off. So grey has to be power. If u tocuh the grey to blue it also shuts off so the blue most be a ground also.
