I am intrested in this circuit mainly for a preamp on the outside antenna itself. but I need aditional information, spcifically the noise level in db that the amplifier circuit introduces. thanks dan

What preamplifier are you talking about?

Please post a schematic?

Our TV Signal Amplifier project is here: http://www.electronics-lab.com/projects/rf/003/index.html
It is a very old kit that uses a transistor and subtitute transistors that are obsolete and not available anymore.

I made a similar project about 30 years ago. It was badly overloaded all the time and didn't work.
The circuit might amplify a weak TV signal if it is out in the middle of nowhere where there are no strong local signals to overload it.

Real TV signal amplifiers are fairly complicated so that they are not overloaded by many local signals. They are expensive.

thanks, was looking for a more cost effective alternative than the $53 channel master preamp, was trying to find a 2 or 3db preamp for an ota antenna on the antenna with a noise value listed. thanks for the advise, guess you get what you pay for, on this issue. thanks again

I thought every project you've built worked first time. :p

Almost.
Every project that I designed worked perfectly the first time.
The TV Signal Amplifier was a magazine project.
Since it didn't work I went and bought the biggest Yagi all-channels TV antenna that was made and it worked extremely well on a rotor.
