they dont have a commitee for that, but DU only affects the mititary
and combitants anyway, not the UK or other civilised countries, so who
cares.

The reportage is very poor and slanted, but the gist is that the
MOD and BAe etc are actively investigating reducing long term
environmental impact of weapons, and the materials used in weapons.
Yes, DU is being removed.

This is not just "tree hugging", as the article suggests. Consider what
happens long term after the fighting is over, the area has to be cleaned
up by someone.

Lead acid vehicle battery kilogrammes Pb is the xtreme absurdity.
Not as if a modern £300 lithium could net be used and save MPG.

The recent high capacity Li-Ion batteries are globally known to make a
lot of pretty sparks, taking Renault et. al. to new higher levels of
flammability! NiMh is a better replacement - but, Ni is probably on
the death list too.

That was one of the features of the SS190 round used in the FN
Five-Seven pistol and the accessory P90 SMP - whack an entire village
with only one or two mags for the P90 at NO HARM TO THE ENVIRONMENT.
