RPM meter

Hiya peoples,
Is there any chance you people have a project or a rpm meter using a hall effect sensor. I want to make up a meter so I can monitor the wind speed on my wind generator. I did find an interesting circuit but it only goes upto 255 rpm. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

You could probably modify the design to extend its range: by adding a precaler or a supplementary counter stage.
