Hi all.... I am starting to set up my lab and need some info
What is a good assortment of resistors to have on hand?
What else is good to have on hand? ???

Firstly before you do anything else I strongly recommend you get the E12 series of resistors from 10ohms up to 1Mohms. Try to get abetter tollerance than 10%, today 1% is quite common and 1% metal film is inexpensive too, you can even buy E12 kits from some places and I strongly recommend one and buy extra common values like 1k, 10k 100k, and 470R, do some research and look at the most commonly used values, I recommend buying extra E6 values in this range as they're the most used.

For example:
10R, 12R, 15R, 18R, 22R, 27R, 33R, 39R, 47R, 56R, 68R, 82R
1k0, 1k2, 1k5, 1k8, 2k2, 2k7, 3k3, 3k9, 4k7, 5k6, 6k8, 8k2
Then repete this sequence and subsitute R with k and k with M.
