Perhaps surprisingly, "rhinoplasty" is an answer.

Although I suspect (and hope) you meant "what is silastic used for in electroncs?", That question is also answered adequately in the aforementioned manner.

Actually I did google around a bit for silastic + electronics, but there were too many descriptions of moldings and such. I saw some video of silastic on a PCB and was not sure why it was there, since I doubt it was for heat transfer (you'd use thermal grease for that).

Mostly as a potting material or to create a seal. Note that here are many products with the trademark "Silastic" used in their name. This also includes tubing and rollers.

I doubt that it has good heat transfer characteristics.

Try looking for the material by terms like "electronics grade silicone", "polydimethylsiloxane" or "alkoxysilane".
